What LOOP is
LOOP is a web-based note capture and task-tracking application. A user types, photographs or texts a note to LOOP; the application stores it, sorts it, and shows it back on that user’s own devices. Each LOOP account has one account holder. There is no public sign-up: an account is set up by its holder, and the mobile numbers that can reach it are registered by the account holder.
What is collected
- The notes, photos, links and voice notes a user sends to LOOP, and the time they were sent.
- For text messaging: the mobile number a message came from, the message, the messages LOOP sent back, and the opt-in and opt-out status of the number.
- For calls to the LOOP number: the number you called from, how long the call was, and the recording of what you said. The recording is copied into LOOP’s private store and deleted from the carrier. A call from a number not on the account is rejected unanswered and nothing is recorded.
- For photos and links: a small copy of the photo and, for a link, the page’s own title and picture, fetched once.
Nothing is collected from anyone who has not sent something to LOOP, and nothing is collected from a device that has not been unlocked by the account holder.
Mobile numbers are never shared
Mobile numbers and text message consent are not shared with, sold to, or rented to any third party or affiliate for their marketing or any other purpose. A number is used only to receive the user’s own messages and to send the application’s replies back to it. The only company that handles the number is the messaging carrier that delivers the texts, as required to deliver them.
Text messaging: how it works
- Consent. A user opts in by texting START to the LOOP number from the mobile number on their LOOP account. By texting START, the user agrees to receive automated text messages from LOOP, including note confirmations and a daily summary. LOOP confirms the opt-in with a reply that repeats the programme, the frequency, that rates may apply, and how to stop. The call to action is published at www.loopadhd.com/sms.
- Who receives messages. Only the mobile number on a LOOP account that has opted in. A message from any other number is dropped without a reply, and no number is ever added by a third party or by a web form.
- What the messages are. A confirmation each time the user texts a note, a daily summary of the user’s open items, and a reminder only when the user asked for one. No marketing or promotional messages.
- Message frequency. Varies with how much the user sends: one confirmation per note, plus the scheduled summaries. A typical day is under ten messages.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Opting out. Reply STOP at any time and LOOP sends nothing more to that number, apart from one confirmation. Reply START to opt back in.
- Help. Reply HELP for a short description and how to stop.
Where data lives and who can see it
Data is stored in a private database and a private file store in the United States, reachable only by the account holder through their unlocked devices. Photos are read once by an AI model to transcribe any visible words, and unmarked notes are read once by an AI model to sort them; those services receive the content of that one note and nothing else, and are not permitted to use it to train models. No analytics, advertising or tracking service is used.
Keeping and deleting
Notes are kept until the account holder deletes them. The account holder can delete everything at any time. Text message records are kept as the record of what was sent, to whom, and what it cost.
